The 4 Core Principles

The primary emphasis of the Core Fat Loss plan is to control blood sugar levels 24 hours a day.  This is because blood sugar, or “glucose” is the primary source of fuel for the brain and central nervous system*. Since these organs can not store glucose, they must constantly draw it from the bloodstream. Your body prefers its moment to moment blood sugar to be somewhere between 80-120 mgs/dl and goes at great lengths to establish consistent blood sugar levels. *In times of prolonged starvation, some nervous system cells are able to burn ketone bodies as a back up fuel source.

Besides your brain and central nervous system, there are many other sugar dependent systems in the body. These cells absolutely require a steady supply of glucose to be delivered through the bloodstream. Cells that exclusively require a constant supply of glucose include:

  • Cells of the brain and central nervous system.
  • The cells of the pancreas that manufacture and produce insulin.
  • Red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the entire body.
  • The retina in the back of the eye that respond to light.
  • The cells of the kidneys that help get rid of waste.
The entire human experience is solely dependent on the amount of sugar found in your bloodstream. Blood sugar is extremely vital, that going without it for more than 10 seconds will result in unconsciousness, coma and eventually death.  If blood sugar levels become too low, you will experience hunger, headache, sweating, shakiness, nervousness, disorientation and slurred speech. High blood sugar levels can also cause harmful effects to the body. Effects of high blood sugar include difficulty breathing, confusion, fatigue, blurred vision, as well as excessive thirst and hunger. Both high and low blood sugar can be fatal if left untreated.
